rincon de Belerda A_Diego

Belerda is a quiet mountain village inhabited by less than 15 people. However the village has known better times throughout its long history. As early as in the year 895, there are reports of Belerda in connection with the church of Santa Maria, which no longer exists. Later references relate Belerda to “el Camino Real” – the royal road or the King’s highway- which used to connect the central part of Asturias with the regions of Riaño and Lillo in Leon through the Tarna mountain pass.
